I have a jeep liberty 2006, engine 3.7L. I know that the catalytic converter is damaged, because i struck the underside going over a huge rock.My problem is while driving with the damaged cat. the engine stalled and would not restart. On checking i found some oil in the air intake and filter. would the damaged cat. caused the engine to stall and what caused oil to enter the air intake?

The oil is likely blowby going through your PCV which draws into the air intake. The PCV valve may need replacement, a cheap and simple fix. The cat is another matter entirely. If its damaged badly the honeycomb in it breaks up and the thing plugs. It won't allow the exhaust gasses to go out. Think of it as trying to breathe through a drinking straw. It definately will stall you out and cause big trouble. Its not cheap but is necessary to repair it before you drive around anymore.

Thanks for the answer. Seems a very logic answer. I bought a new direct fit Cat. Cost me $500. should have it by Tuesday also i bought the four O2 sensors.I'll check the PCV valve and change if necessary. Please tell me where is the PCV valve located.
