f250 running cold

i poped my radiator hose a couple of days ago and my truck was overheating(not to bad), i replaced the hose and now it is running cold< just did the thermostat still cold, dont know what else to do

Should be the thermostat. See if you can notice the upper hose getting warm way too fast when engine is started from cold and if so it's letting coolant by when it shouldn't. This t-stat if the 5.0 or 5.8 can fall down crooked when putting it back together. Can't recall if the six is like that but it might be too if mounted pointing towards front. Bet that's it and you can just stick the t-stat in the landing before installing it with some gasket maker and let it dry or use a peice of wire thru t-stat cover out hose end and bend the wire to hold it there then remove the wire when it is snugged up. If that happened it probably trashed your new thermostat, T

Gasket Maker: Ok, you used it but if the thermostat tilted or got bumped it's letting coolant thru to radiator before it warms up. It's easy to do that and even not leak. Feel the upper hose as I said and it will prove or disprove that, that has happened. Hose should stay stone cold till thermostat opens. If everything look right if you go back there test that or a new thermostat in a pan of water with a thermometer and watch it open only at close to the 192F it should be set for. Aftermarket ones will be 195F perhaps and that's fine. Don't get colder ones (than OE spec) for any vehicle as they don't help in hot weather at all for keeping an engine from overheating, T

Can we get year and engine size please? The 5.0 and 5.8 are different than the 4.6 or the 5.4. So engine size will help give you a better diagnosis. A generic easy way to purge air is to be sure the radiator cap is the highest point in the cooling system and remove cap and run engine until all the air bubbles stop showing. Then top off system and close up. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
