hello i have a 2002 pontiac sunfire gt with a 2.2 ecotech engine and it has 180,000 kms. my cylinder head cracked so i replaced it with new gaskets and bolts and its all torqued to specs and when i start my car it fires up quickly but then it idles badly, the rpm fluctuates between 800 to 950 rmp. i used the live data feature on my scanner and the numbers were weird, at idle the numbers for the spark plug advance was fluctuating between zero and 20 degrees and the short term fuel trim was -20%. when i press on the gas the car runs fine and the numbers steady, the spark plug advance stays at 24 degrees and the short term fuel trim stays at 3%. i did find a crack in my intake manifold and i am replacing it but would the intake manifold screw up the timing? also the spark plugs had some black and dry stuff on them, it wiped off easily but is that a major problem? Thanks

Don't worry about the timing. That's normal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

That's what's making the timing jump around. Fix the other problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

well thats where i was hoping you could help me, the coil is fine and the way i check is that i put the coil in my 2002 into my 2003 sunfire and it ran fine i also bought new spark plugs and i am now guessing its some sort of sensor and i was wondering if you have an idea to which sensor i could be.
