when i press the gas pedal to accelerate the check engine light flashes, when i let off the pedal the light goes off. any ideas? help please!!!

You have a severe misfire. Stop driving it and have the codes read.

The parts store can read them but just write down the numbers. Don't let them sell you anything or try to diagnose it. They are only parts salesman.
