I recently bought a wrecked 2001 Pt Cruiser. My husband and father-in-law are rebuilding it. They have replaced all the broken or other wise damaged parts. Now the problem... It will not start!!!! When you turn the key the lights and the radio work but it will not even click like it is trying to turn over. If you turn the key and hold it nothing happens but if you use a jumper wire you can get the engine to turn over but the fuel pump is not kicking on, so the engine will not run. They have checked all of the obvious problems, the battery, the wiring, the starter it's self, the relays, and the fuses. When we bought it we were told it would not start because the neutral switch was kicked when it was wrecked (we fixed that to). If you have any ideas please let me know.

Try cranking the engine in neutral instead of park. If it cranks over then the trans. range switch is bad or out of adjustment. My next suggestion is to check for an alarm system and a possible kill switch. A lot of alarm systems are wired to a device such as a turn signal or a power window switch. You can try different switches and cranking to see if this type of anti-theft is being used. You may also have a faulty ignition switch. Unfortunately I don't have a wiring diagram for this car here at home.
