any ideas on how I can verify if its the oil cooler in the radiator leaking, before I swap it out. I have a 88 4X4 4.3, that has oil in the radiator, and I pulled all the plugs and didn't see any whitness marks indicating head gasket

First off what kind of vehicle is this?

Engine oil coolers are usually separate from cooling system. Auto transmissions do use the radiator in many vehicles and can be the cause, T

Re: oil in radiator Sign In

I thought that is what it would be. Depending on certain options it should use the radiator to cool ATF. If it was ordered new with a HD cooling package that might have been separate also which kind of leaves a head gasket or flaw in the engine in some way.

Perhaps if you pressure test the radiator you might find coolant going the other way but those engines were pretty good at lasting a long time without strange problems like this, T
