Is the check engine light on or any trouble codes being stored? Did you make sure that all the vacuum hoses where connected? Why would you change spark plugs when the vehicle only has 13,000 miles on it? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

He probably means 130K. I'm betting he cracked a plug. This is a 3 valve so I'm curious how he got all the plugs out at that mileage, unless it really is 13K ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

no 2 and no 6 plugs I had to use a tool to extract them. I have an 04 f150 so I pulled the plugs and put the ones out of the f150 in still ran the same those plugs had about 50 thousand on them.

You've probably got a few bad coils. It's at the right mileage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Have you checked for codes again? Are you hearing any noises from the valve cover area? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Seems kind of funny it was running fine before the spark plug change. Definitely see if any codes are being flagged. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

This issue dates back to March 5th your first post here on the problem. Have you just driven it all that time with a random misfire? Refresh: It was fine till you touched it and have been asked for current codes to be read. I don't see that posted yet and now if no codes on an engine running lousy that long that alone is a problem as it must have something to say. IDK - blame the pcm if you wish but not there yet IMO. All the things already mentioned and whatever you might have messed up in working on it at all ruled out first, T

How to find out if your PCM is bad? You need to find out why it is misfiring first. What is missing that is causing the misfire. You don't want to drive it around misfiring. If it is injecting fuel on those misfiring cylinders, you'll burn up your catalyst. Cats are big bucks. Maybe you should have a shop check it out. I guess it's time you go where you should have started in the first place. All "crank, no start" conditions are approached in the same way. Every engine requires certain functions to be able to run. Some of these functions rely on specific components to work and some components are part of more than one function so it is important to see the whole picture to be able to conclude anything about what may have failed. Also, these functions can ONLY be tested during the failure. Any other time and they will simply test good because the problem isn't present at the moment. If you approach this in any other way, you are merely guessing and that only serves to replace unnecessary parts and wastes money. Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for. These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause. 1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on. 2) Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on. 3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off. 4) If all of these things check good, then you would need to do a complete compression test. Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out, you will know which system is having the problem.

I agree! Time to ship it off. Your replacement PCM needs to be programmed for the vehicle or it won't run. PATS will disable the engine and the options won't match. PCMs very rarely go bad. More problems were created by not actually diagnosing it properly. Now someone is going to have to untangle all the other problems to figure out what the original issue is. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
