I have a 2003 Toyota Sequoia LTD 2 wheel drive with the only v-8 offered for that model. The truck will start and then stop but will start and run on the second try. I've changed the mass airflow sensor, the fuel filter and checked all of the vac. hoses. The truck is still doing the same thing. Any ideas?

How many miles? Check engine light on or any trouble codes stored in the ECU? Was there any recent work done to it prior to this problem? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

The truck has 180k, there are no trouble codes and the check engine light is not on. There was no work done on the truck prior to this problem. I think I may have some type of a fuel issue. Thanks for the quick reply.

Does it do this every time you start it or does it do this only if it has sat for a while? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

If you haven't done this already, clean the throttle body. It would be the first thing our shop would do in your case. Remove the intake ducting. Using a rag, toothbrush, or both and a can of throttle body cleaner, clean all the carbon and gunk out of the bore and plate. Then disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. Reconnect and see what happens. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
