stopped while driving -1998 s1o blazer Sign In

While driving car stopped as if it was not getting fuel. Would not restart. Towed to garage- air filter ratted- he cleaned out carbarettor - says he cleaned injectors. Car will start with engine start only. mechanic is french and english not good enough for this - doesn't know what problem is but says it is getting fuel but fuel not going from injectors to engine. First he thought it was ecu so bought a new one but no go. he seems to think it is electrical. problem is we are in vanuatu in south pacific and have no access to anything else. Anybody know what problem could be????? desperate!!

No carburetor on this - it's fuel injected only. These are very fussy about having proper fuel pressure and just a few PSI under can be enough to prevent starting. Start with someone who can check that out as it's fairly common,

Thanks for info - yes, sorry he cleaned out whatever it was where the paper filters from air filter went??? I will get him to tell me what the fuel pressure is - by the way what should it be? I also talked to an aircraft engineer today and he said the same - get the mechanic to tell you what the fuel pressure so you know he has checked it and you will then know if it is a fuel problem.

The spec is 55 to 66PSI. It will not run below 55.

patsee: What can look like a carburetor is called a throttle body - just FYI. True was Hammer said - they are fussy about pressure and really won't run just a touch below spec even a new one can be bad so if that's the issue go with a GM whole unit and don't fall for any bargain stuff,

If it's a no fuel problem check the fuel pump relay and fues if it has one.
If none of those work try the fuel filter, some times they get too dirty and will not let enough fuel pressor through.
Last off is the fuel pump or a ECU or wiring problem.
Let me know how it goes, I've done alot of stuff to the older S-10's but never a newer one.
