too sweet Sign In

some idiot put suger in the gas tank of my 1997 ford crown vic.so i changed the fuel pump and filter but its still running like crap,what can i do next.

You may have to change the tank also. Even if you drained all the gas there is probably still cereal additive there. Also there will be the same in the fuel injection system. A fuel system flush would be a good idea.

Sugar in the tank won't 'ruin' anything, but it will plug things up. You can drop the fuel tank and flush it thouroughly with hot water. Disconnect the fuel lines at the fuel rails and do the same thing. (Be sure to dry out everything before reconnecting). You can 'hope' that the injectors didn't get plugged, but those can be cleaned as well. A Motor Vac fuel injection cleaning can be done at most shops. Is in the $100 neighborhood and should be done every 30-40K, anyway. If you haven't had this service before, you'll probably notice an increase in fuel economy and performance. So, you can look at it as maintenance.
