No engine size? How are the plugs, wires, and distributor cap/rotor? Check engine light on? If so, cycle the ignition on-off-on-off-on and then count the flashes of the check engine light. Write down the code numbers. They are two digit numbers. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

You could try loading the coil to see how it performs. Could be a weak ignition causing the spitting and sputtering. One way to test the coil output is to connect an adjustable spark tester and crank it out to around 30K and see how the spark does. Have ran into those where the O2 sensor either sticks low or high and causes the engine to run like poo. You could connect a volt meter up to the O2 sensor signal circuit and see what the voltage is. It should be fluctuating between 0-1 volts while holding the engine at 2500 rpm. When it is running bad you can also force it into open loop by unplugging the O2 sensor and seeing if the problem stops. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

How did you read "change the 0/2 sensor" from those instructions? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
