upper intake gasket

just put an upper intake gasket on a 1996 buick regal it has the 3.8 litre v6 now the engine did not hydralock or nothing of that nature in fact it ran like a new one before i put that gasket on now my problem is the engine has experianced a bad power loss it has a very bad misfire problem the engine also mises and the check engine light is blinking on and off like a christmas tree now i thought maybe it was the plugs so i went on and put new ones in it even thow it had no miss or misfiring or power loss prier to putiing that gasket on and there was no change even with the new plugs it still the same any ideas its abought to drive me nuts trying to figure out whats wrong with it any ideas would be gratefull for it

it was leaking coolant from the gasket so had to change it

MMMM....Double and triple check all the electrical plugs and vacumme lines. Make sure your injector plugs are plugged into the correct injector. Have the codes pulled. there will certainly be a miss fire code but there may be something else there to give you a place to start. Also if I remember correctly there is a vacumme tube inside the upper intake and if it falls out it can give you some trouble. Also if you accidently dropped some junk down in the intake it could cause a valve to stick open. This happened to me once on a 3.4(piece of gasket material). Spent days chasing the problem. Has something to do with the recent work so recheck. Jeff

Check firing order. You may have wires crossed. Loren SW Washington

would like to thank every one who subgested solutions to me problem has been fixed it was in fact the firing order i had cycelenders 2 4 6 crossed its now running like a new one again thanks to every one helping me with this problem ill be doing the gasket in a couple months on my 97 lesaber iff i have any problems with that one ill be back lol again thanks to all of you
