have a 95 chryler new yorker. 3.5 motor. will not start. i've replaced the alternater, and coil ignition. the fuel cell in tank is working, can here it when key is turned to the "on" position. I've checked the fuel fuses.i took out a couple of spark plugs one at a time and tried to ground them to get a spark and no spark. i know this is old school but don't have the proper tools. car is turning over great, but won't start

Sound like the typical Chrysler / jeep problem, Cam / Crank sensors could be bad. if your car has a RPM counter, crank engine and check that the needle moves to at least 250 RPM if it does not move you have a cam sensor problem . try and get the codes read ,not sure on you model but if you open and close the ign switch 3 times your MIL /check engine light will start to flash on off on off on off then on then read the flashing light long flash are your tenths and a short flash is your singles - - - / . . . = 33. - - / . . . . = 24 if your car is end of 95 this is not possible then you have the OBD II system . you will need a code reader . ....Indy Tech. , http://www.flatratetech.com staff tech Indy Shop owner

just took off the cam sencor did the test and it was 8.8 decided to take the cam sensor out to clean(don't know why) I looked down at one of the timing gears. I decided to mark the what I can see of the gear with a majic marker and turn the engine over a few times when I looked down in the sensor hole I can see that the gear did not move at all. I did it 3 times and the gear didn't move. Is it now the timing belt????????

Sorry to here this, Not sure if this is a interference or free running engine which means if its a free running, there will be no internal damage ,if it isn't then you most probably have bent valve, inner motor damage which could cost a fortune . this is one thing i try to tell my customer to do every 50.000 miles is to change there timing belt and tensioner with idle pulley and seals. Good luck on this one my friend ......Indy Tech. , http://www.flatratetech.com staff tech Indy Shop owner
