So I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado and my exhaust manifold has broken bolts, which I cannot get out. I did some research and found these brackets online. Can anyone tell me if they have used them? I have heard really good things but I just wanted to see if anyone had an opinion. They're called Exhaust Manifold Bolt Repair Kits, made by Kral Auto Parts, LLC.

I've never seen anything other than the right bolts that will hold a manifold up to an engine without leaks. You're going to have to extract to broken ones. If they are sticking out of the hole a little I would slip a nut over them and weld the nut onto the bolt. Then try backing it out. If its inside the hole you want to use a transfer punch to get directly on center and drill it with a left twist drill bit. If the bit doesn't get it out you need to get in with extractors. Make sure you take your time there, as if you break off an extractor in the hole you'll be taking the head to a machine shop.

While its not a cheap option, if you absolutely can't get this out or do not have the tools you may have to tow the truck to a shop and pay them to do it.

That Kral kit was interesting. Looks pretty well machined and designed. But I can imagine it just gets loose as you drive and you will still get leaks.

We don't hack and "rig" things. we repair them.

Closing this now.

Well, I contacted some others who have used this kit and they said it has worked great for them, and none have had issues with them loosening up or anything. I called Kral Auto Parts and asked them details about it and the parts sound quite trustworthy, so I bought some and found it very easy to install and so far they have worked great.. I think it turned out to be a better option rather than spending the extra thousand dollars getting it all redone. We will see I guess as to how it holds up in the long run, but I have heard really good things, so I am counting on it!

Thanks for the alternative input!

I'd recommend trying this option too, it's a lot cheaper and saved me a lot of wasted time.
