Gasket fits in Y pipe but not the manifold

I have a 1993 Chevy Suburban C1500 with a 5.7L V8. I had to remove the headers and put stock manifolds in to get it smogged in California. In doing so, I also had to replace the Y pipe because the factory one had been chopped up to fit the non-California legal headers. The opening to the manifolds on the Y pipe is larger than the opening on the manifolds. The gasket does not seal the exhaust system. Short of cutting out the Y pipe and buying another size is there anything I can do.

? Sounds like you have a bunch of incorrect parts going back to legal OE for California specs. CA specs frequently are different especially exhaust.
You might be having trouble on top if this vehicle was never properly made for CA specs and altered to meet that long ago. If anything is still known original there should be a decal sticker on probably radiator support area that states it meets CA emissions from new or I think then known as "Federal Emissions" which was all other states.
IDK - parts may have also been mislabeled or boxed by mistake? For now I think you have a total parts problem and easier IMO to get them all wrong if not using a brick and mortar parts outlet vs online parts if you went that way.
Also, this engine block has lots of aftermarket and sub aftermarket parts either poor quality or lousy to impossible fit to add to the headache.
Perhaps a CA certified exhaust/emissions shop could be the best help to make it right with the ability and parts or adaptors or make up connections to satisfy CA specs,
