Hi, I have a 2006 Volvo xc90 4.4l v8 engine. I need to replace the cat converter and flex pipe, which is all one piece. The problem I see is the the flex pipes are welded to another pipe leading to the manifold. The new part has flanges on the ends of the flex pipe. I'm wondering what options I have to be able to connect the flex pipes the best way. I have attached some photos to get a better Idea what I'm talking about. http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/730AlQPa/2063.jpg http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/730AlQPa/2066.jpg The cat is welded to the flex pipes, it's the flex pipes that have the flange on new part. Here are pics of the pipes and new part. I have looked on Rock auto, ebay, parts geek, etc. etc. this is the only part available. Thanks Ray

If your cat is welded and the new part has a flange, then you have the wrong part. Very few Cats are "bolt on" and most have to be welded. Your best bet is to take it to a custom exhaust shop and they can weld in a replacement inexpensively. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
