Recently i installed a new catalytic converter on my suzuki swift 1989, the problem is that it produces a rattling noise all the time. I asked the mechanic he said its bcoz the converter is fresh without any carbon deposits, as the carbon will start depositing the noise will automatically die down. Is this true?? thanks for help.

Sounds like he left a heat shield loose. They rattle and drive you nuts. He fed you a line of bogus crap about that convertor though. I thought I had heard it all til now. Ugh...

I guess the carbon is supposed to fill into the little holes in the substrate. If you get enough carbon in there, you won't have to worry about it rattling. By the way does the your mechanic look like this guy? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
