02 Dodge Caravan wont start just clicks Sign In

I have an 02 dodge caravan that is having some electrical problems. I had the water pump replaced and have nothing but problem ever since. After new water pump lower heater hose went out, next upper heater hose went out. Replaced both of those and the car started just losing all power when driving down road. Run just fine then nothing. After a few minutes and a couple clicks in engine compartment that van starts. Started looking in battery area and found the dual lead conectors stuck together after being pinched together by batery. Pulled them apart and wrapped with electrical tape. Van started working again, 5 days later it started dieing again. driving down road and lose all power. Looked further into dual leads and found wire from fuse box a little black and chared. Replaced the dual lead and car started right up and seemed to be working just fine. Today go to start and nothing, just clicks. Please help with suggestions.

OK - Some unfortunate events and things missed.
Once running you said engine loses power? That isn't good after blowing cooling system hoses probably an overheat as well open the book for other troubles. One thing at a time as not running at all isn't helping diagnose anything else.

The battery cable ends at battery sound a bit hacked up by your description. If available whole OE cables or quality (note QUALITY) ends to splice on rest of cable neatly done. The just clicking is probably the connections of whatever mess is there now just isn't up to snuff.

Either way those should be neat and correct.

Then charge up battery and or have it tested and when it will dependably start up can figure out why it isn't running properly or just maybe with cables fixed up things will just work right again,

It overheated a couple times but I always stopped car turned off engine and let it cool down. When running the van runs good just ends up loosing all electrical power. I replaced the battery cables and car fired right up and ran errands no problem. Could the alternator or starter be bad? Should I replace the battery?

There a many type of cable ends and it totally matters that they are good ones. The sell temporary ones still that you are lucky if you get a day out of and this is not the place for a problem at all.

Charge and test the battery and then decide on a new one or not based on that. Some vehicles you can't just get whole new cables so they do make good end splices when needed that do work and last.

This and other vehicles must have a battery in order to run well and it's totally involved with it charging from alternator also. Most of the Chrysler products are using the "computer" to regulate the alternator which may test good but not work when installed if aggravated enough fooling around with cable ends and battery problems no telling what troubles it might cause.

I can smell it thru a screen those cable ends are not right. If they cost less the $10 bucks each they are junk is about right on up. Can't cheap out on that fix then you can find out what else might be trouble once that much is known - got it?
