2002 Nissan Sentra Hello, I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra with about 80,000 miles on it and it seems to be having trouble accelerating. When driving at highway speeds or once the car gets “going” I have no problems with it what so ever and it drives like a dream. Now the problem lies when I first start the car up, it takes a lot of “umph” for the car to get going, I will press on the gas and the engine will rev up to sometimes 3000 rpms but the car will barely move forward at all and then all of a sudden it will lurch forward and catch up to speed and the engine will return to a normal rpm. I notice the problem a lot when also when doing city driving and stop and go. I’ve never had it die on me during this but it seems like it shouldn’t be taking that much effort to accelerate the car. I have two ideas on what it might be (if anyone else has had the same problem or not) first, a few months ago I had a new computer put in the car as it kept on dying on me and that solved that problem and I was wondering if the computer is programmed incorrectly if that may be part of the problem? My other idea from just reading around on the internet is that it is more than likely a fuel pump problem but I’m not 100% sure. Anyone have any ideas?
