03 Lancer Reverse Light Issue

Make: Mitsubishi
Model: Lancer Base Model
Engine: Don't Know
Mileage: 144k
weird problem... I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer standard transmission Base Model. The car sat for five months while I was at basic.
Had to replace the alternator which I did yesterday.
(Happened before and after I Replaced the alternator) Now when the car is on the only time the reverse light turns off is when it is in fifth gear... any suggestions?

Sounds like could be reverse lamp switch or related wiring.. possible harness getting pinched somewhere. When it's acting up I would disconnect the switch and see if the light goes out or not.
