05 civic cooling issue

Hello people, I have a 2005 Honda Civic lx 1.7 110000 miles. Car started getting hot whenever I would park and I replaced the thermostat, didn't help so figured it was the water pump since I could rev it up and get the temp to fall back down, changed water pump, radiator cap, timing belt service and gaskets seals while I had it torn apart, car still randomly gets hot when I park, needle will climb all the way to red and if I rev it a bit it'll cone back down to normal temp, heat works fine, radiator doesn't bubble when cranking no oil in coolant or vice versa, no leaks that I could find anywhere, exhaust doesn't smell like burning coolant, all cylinders tested ok for compression, no smell or film buildup with defrosted so I don't.think it's the heater core (intermittent heat before water pump change) I don't know what else to check but it's still pushing coolant into reservoir and overflowing it's a non pressurized system. Any help is appreciated.

It sure is a pressurized system - everything is. Do fan(s) ever come on? By description this blowing over coolant, running hot is consistent with head gasket allowing gasses into cooling system so far such that it's not really full inside the engine of pure liquid, T

Yea fans work....I meant not pressurized as in standard radiator with fill cap and overflow reservoir not a closed loop system like newer vehicles. If head gasket was blown I'd have bad compression....didn't understand last part of your post

If no cap on radiator the pressure is regulated at the reservoir or recover tank. Head and or head gasket can leak any which way it seals not just the notorious burning coolant or mixing oil and coolant etc. When no access to radiator directly how did you fill it when you did do some things? Can't count on just the tank to suck it in and purge air out. May have an air bleed high on engine or require vacuum filling. When/if air in system all things can go erratic that are sensing coolant temperature. You could have good compression by compression test but not at combustion pressures. It's only consistent with what I'm thinking - vapor for any reason trapped in cooling system unseen by any reservoir level. In that it can cool down with higher RPMs that suggests it's early in this situation and will probably get worse soon, sooner if you keep letting temp run into the "red" zone. You can pressure test system, take plugs out and check/crank + coolant may spit out or test for combustion gasses in the air above coolant in the recover tank for some better clues. Of course the system is pressurized, maybe not the reserve tank but the rest of the system is pressurized.
