My folks have an 07 Pacifica 4.0l with just over 300k miles. They were driving it and it died while driving on the side of the road. All accessories work, and when you turn the key there’s one click, and the engine moves (bad motor mounts), but then there’s nothing. My dad thinks the engine seized, but the engine didn’t make any noise, or act differently in anyway, oil looks good, coolant looks good, they said the engine temp gauge was fine. I’m leaning towards it being ignition related, but im stuck because it clicks one time when trying to start, which feels like seized engine to me. If anyone has any suggestions to check or ideas, I’d appreciate it. Also didn’t get around to checking anything specific with ignition because didn’t think about it until driving home and the car is broke down almost an hour away

Yes, it does sound like it seized. All you have to do is put a socket and breaker bar on the front crankshaft bolt and see if you can turn it by hand. If you can't turn it by hand, then just call the junkyard as you have been on borrowed time for the last 100K. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I don’t have room to get a socket and breaker bar on it, I’ve got about an inch between the crank bolt and a frame

Then you'll have to go at the other end. There should be an inspection cover at the lower back of the engine and you should be able to use a large screwdriver or small prybar to turn the flywheel by prying the teeth. I would look again at the front crank first. You don't need a lot of space to slide the socket in sideways and then turn it onto the bolt. There is usually enough room.

Just went back out to it, took off the tire to get more room to get to the crank, it only spins 180 degrees, so I’m guessing valve issue. If there’s anything else it could be, feel free to suggest, but I feel confident that it would mean valve
