2008 Honda Civic EX 1.8L 106k mileage

Started to start sluggish. Then a couple days later it wouldn't start just like if you had a dead battery. Hooked my jump started on battery and starts fine. Took the car to Orielys, they checked battery, alternator, and starter and all tested good. I am figuring its not the starter cause when I hook up the jump starter, it starts fine. Cleaned all my terminals, and cleaned the negative when it screws to the frame. Man I can't figure this out.

So Orielys checks the alternator and battery from hooking to the battery only. So that means adequate power from alternator is charging battery. So does this mean there is a disruption in power to the engine from battery? Is there a fuse, relay, or something that can cause this?

Any help would be appreciated.

There is one undeniable fact here. You jumped the car and it started. That means the battery was dead and nothing else. No starter or connection problem other than at the battery itself.

Now what you have to figure out is why.

Either the battery itself was no good, something discharged it while it was parked or the alternator is not recharging it.
The problem may be intermittent. It depends on whether this is happening after being parked for a long period or while the car is being used to indicate what kind of issue it is.

Well I have charged the battery and its good for a couple of cranks and goes dead again. I have had the battery tested by 2 different places and they both said it was good.

Now since the tech connected to the battery and showed proper voltage when car was on displayed 14 volts hence passed the alternator check, that means the alternator is delivering power to the battery right? So does this rule out an alternator connection - like the alternator cable or terminals?

Basically I am trying to figure out if there is any possibility this can be alternator related.

And is there a fuse or relay that can cause this?

Hammer was spot on right away no surprise: OP - quoting your words
"> Well I have charged the battery and its good for a couple of cranks and goes dead again. I have had the battery tested by 2 different places and they both said it was good. <"
That's all fine but doubt anyone testing it has a clue so discount that.
The key comment was the give-a-way is it took a jump and behaved which means it's not so great. If over 3 -4 years old IMO not a waste to just get good new but charge new first without the vehicle take it back till you get a good one they get wrecked new from just handling way too much,

You never answered the question.

Does this problem occur after it has been parked for a while or while it is being used?

Its not solely after it has been parked for a while. Basically all the time, when being used and after being parked.

That would make no sense at all.

Those are conflicting symptoms that mean opposite things. Either the battery can't handle sitting or it can't handle being used.

If you have both, that just points to a bad battery.

Well FYI, it ended up being the starter. Thanks for the help though.

Glad you got it resolved.

Closing this now as solved.
