Hi i'm not to familiar with these forums. but I’m having a problem with an 09 Pontiac G6, with the 3.5L.95000.miles having trouble with the security lockout. The car ran fine last saturday night and when we went to start it sunday morning it wouldn't start, I have everything when we turn on the ignition but will not turn over engine. we took the starter off and had it tested at the local parts house and it checked out good, i did a load test on the battery and found it was bad so we replaced it, i get a Error code where the odometer is, I’ve tried the reprogram for 10 minutes that didn’t work. I’ve tried to hook up my scanner but it says error and won’t give me a code. i have checked all the fuses and computer plugs and everything is ok there. it has a remote start but when i try using it, all works good until its time to start then it starts honking and lights flashing. I’m up for any suggestions. I’m sorry if this isn’t the correct way to ask for help. thanks

What sort of error code are you seeing on the odometer? Have you tried using a professional level scan tool to get codes read? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Welcome - you're doing fine. Quoting you " >>it has a remote start but when i try using it, all works good until its time to start then it starts honking and lights flashing. I’m up for any suggestions.<<" ********************** Do you know if that is aftermarket or a factory installed feature? Aftermarket ones push 100% failures and if hacked into wiring who knows what troubles? Note on the parts outlets: They are really there to sell parts not be mechanics and most are NOT. You've tested a starter and think it's good and tested a battery and replaced it because it was determined bad by people who may not know crap about it. Just take the parts to a grocery store you stand a better chance. It's nice these places offer these services but with a grain of salt with what they say. It's always up to you or a tech to determine what needs what the parts outlets job is to sell parts you ask for and more if they can which is their job. My guess is this remote starter has failed as now when you are actually in it the behavior is like an alarm that you are stealing it. Great. IMO the job may be finding the right place to take all that crap out and restore wiring to factory OE condition with tools and info on putting it back as intended, T

It says Error that's it. Yes I've hooked up to a Modis scanner not getting anything.

If your Modis can't communicate with the cluster, then the cluster may be bad. It is part of the security system.

Thank you for responding. I have a load tester I use at work for the battery I since have crossed the starter terminals and I can start it doing it that way. But will not work through the ignition. The remote start is factory installed. I hooked it up to a Modis scanner and it's not showing me any codes. It does connect with the Ecm and Bcm. I was wondering if this has a fuel pump shut off? If so where would the reset be?

The security system on this car doesn't disable the starter. It disables the fuel injectors. The circuit just needs to be troubleshooted following a wiring diagram.

Like I said, troubleshoot the circuit. If you don't know how, then you'll just have to pay someone to do it for you.

As I already told you, the security system does not effect the starter.
