Hey people, i havent really checked the car out, or looked for wrongs. But the GT was working, when i parked it in my garage through the winter, and it ended up standing there for 1,5 year. Abit too long i guess.... now it doesent start, it is a 1970 Opel GT, has run about 200-300 kilometers, the engine size i am not sure of. got taken to use in 1973. I was wondering if there is any typical solutions to this? something normal that happens with the opel gt when standing still too long... or cars in general? I have little to none car brain, so i havent tried fixing it, cause my knowledge is so low about it. Any kind of help would be wonderful! Smile hope someone can help me

Actually knew of this car at about that year - some fussy things but so far you've said enough.

Battery is probably hopelessly junk and won't be able to test or do much of anything till that is straightened out, replaced, charged then find out what just sitting did to it which could be a little or a horror depending on several things. You can try charging it but if it went totally flat dead for and would for that time it would kill a good one when it was parked unless on a maintainer/charger or removed for care.

At least if in a garage you have a good chance if all was fine when parked.

Gas could be an issue.

You said you were limited for car knowledge so I'll take your word. If you are taking this on where it sits you'll need some things or just send it out now and tell of it's history like you just did here.

Careful for brakes even if not running they may not work first or second try or well at all anyway if not running with no power assist. Duh - make sure tires aren't flat too,
