1980 Dodge not starting

Recently bought an older Dodge 4x4. Found that the dipstick tube broke off in block without enough to grab with vise grips. Oil blow back every where. Got the tube out and replaced. While I had the front off, I decided to do some cleaning and detailing. Cleaned it up, put it back together, nothing.... Not long before this, I was cranking it over, heard a pop, smelled something awful, and gave up. Looked at it the next day found that the battery terminal had blown up art and partially melted. Replaced the terminal and found the starter relay was fried. Replaced it and it was fine until I chased down the oil leak. Tried to start it and zip. Lights and radio wok but no buzz, click, or hum from the starter. Charged battery overnight and the same. It had a kill switch that looked poorly wired. Only 2 wires, one spliced into starter and relay circuit and second to ground. Pulled that out and wired back directly. STill nada. All fuses are good. I think next step is pull started and bench test or take to auto parts store for free test. If that doesn’t work find a fault, I’m totally steimeed. Should mention the dash and under the hood looks like 10 miles of bad spaghetti and no idea what previous owner was thinking. Although diddnt tough any of that, some of the jury rigging may have come undone. Electrical work is a bit unnerving since I know very little about it. Any pointers are appreciated. 1980 Dodge W150 4x4 360/Auto/PS/PB No a/c. Radio delete. Originally a snow plow truck

What did you want this mess for? OMG about a 40 year old snow plow truck! At best this is probably some parts for another truck. Details like the dipstick tube had broken off, fine but have you even heard this thing run at all yet to see if it's even fixable? What's the rest of the rust scene? Eventually that ends the show - floors gone, frame and support areas have to be known strong and good or forget this like the seller did. What do you want to do in that you said you are over your head before getting going at all as quoted up top? OK, you cranked it and at least got this to pop somewhere and a harsh odor no joke but what did you expect with oil all over it? BTW, am from a snow belt area just know the work trucks that really worked and intended for just that from new seems this was probably 98% of them are already long gone just for the metal content which is worth some real $$ maybe enough for you to get out of this if as bad as you describe, T
