1988 Cadillac Deville coolant fan temp light

about 110000 miles on it. I will be starting a job soon that is 33 miles out of town and don't want to break down between transit.the other day when driving down the freeway I noticed the coolant fan temp light coming on and off and continued to flicker. I have been noticing it drinking a lot of coolant up but with no noticeable signs of leaking. I read another post from a different website and heard about holding down the off and warmer buttons on the climate control to get diagnostic codes. When doing this I got : (8.8.8)( . .E)(E30)( .7.0) Any insight on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Caddy's can be a different bird so first lets know exactly what this is as the era was changing. Without digging all over the web this should be a chassis car, rear wheel drive with a maybe of a Caddy V8 or what is really an Olds 307, AKA a 5.0 liter. I though either would use a fan clutch, belt driven. The era could do different things for cars destined for CA. Just clarify exactly what this is please. If a fan clutch only and any temp warning it isn't measuring the temp of the clutch so it's engine temp most likely is too close to the hot line. Save some mistakes on just what this is will help,,,,,, T

No, this is a FWD with electric fans. The first step should be to check the coolant level and pressure test the cooling system to locate any leaks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Good find HT. As said the name "DeVille" got messed with for a while as I know them. Just "Fleetwood" for the RWDs for a while - messy. What's shown is the FWD as said and couldn't be belt driven fans. Now unless a freak car we know what the layout would be, T

Mine actually started out life as yours. Carnation yellow with yellow interior. I changed it to the factory Champaign Fire Mist. Added a Continental Kit and front grill. all almost impossible to find now. I have an issue where the Temp Light turns on just when i turn on the AC. Tirn Ac off and temp light goes out. Blows hot air and this is a new ac unit. http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/385ueRXO/1282.jpg[/image]
