1992 Honda Accord - No Spark	Sign In

My 1992 Honda Accord just quit as I was driving. Checked all main fusing - ok. No spark from coil. Any suggestions? I have heard the distributors are prone to failure on these cars.

Andy,

Could you give us some more details on what happened?

Where you speeding up or shifting? Did it just suddenly die and you had to pull off to the side of the road?

Also now could you turn any lights on such as the inside doom light? Does it even crank over a little?

The car just died at the side of the road. After the that it would turn over fine but would not fire. Checked all the main fuses, and they were all ok. Checked for spark at the plugs and coil, nothing at all present.Towed the car to my garage and talked to some mechanic friends. They said it would probably be the distributor. According to the parts store, even they said the Accords were notorious for distributor problems. I opened the hood and pulled out the Chilton manual and checked the coil and ignitor according to book. Both were fine. Installed a remanufactured distributor (10 minute job) and the car fired right up. The timing even seems to be bang on!, but I may throw a light on it anyway just to be sure. Have been running the car since last Wednesday, and it's running great.
