I have no power in the electrical system. I have a new starter and battery, but no lights, no dome lights, nothing. The battery cables are fine, but get very hot, even with nothing working. Any ideas???

first check the fuseible links and fuses then i would disconnect the battery and make sure you dont have a reverse polarity witch means battery is no good it only happen to me once in my 30 years working on cars a custormor buaght a battery at WAL-MART and the negetive was possitive and positive was negetive that went well i had never saw that befor and when i did discover it it blew my mind.
