1994 GMC Jimmy wiper problem	Sign In

I am trying to get an inspection sticker and my wipers stopped working. The blinker and high beam works, but no washer or wiper. Fuse is good. I had the dash apart to replace the heater core. Is it possible that something got unplugged? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had one do that on a 96 Suburban and I played with the connection at the motor and they would work a couple weeks and then do it again. I finally just put in a new motor and that was the end of it and later (Mom's car) she was notified that it was a major recall for some circuit in the motor and they did reimburser her for the job over a year later.

Have you VIN# and call or go to your local dealer about this. In general if it's covered it should have expired over the time as safety (this is!) items stay covered.

Thank you Tom,
I checked the GMC recalls and my truck was not there. Is there any connections under the dash that could have been disconnected while I was replacing the heater core? Where would I find the wiper motor?

I almost certain the motor is visable on firewall under you hood near brake booster. It has a connector with tons or wires there and you need to pull out a nylon lock to remove and inspect it. Or just wiggle it with the wipers on and see if it changes. You can also whack the round part of the motor with a reasonable tap from a hammer while it is on and see if it starts up. If so the motor is almost always bad. Also check that the motor itself has ground. You can do that with alligator jumper wires to body of motor - not just the mounting bolts. Some use a funny strap to ground motor to firewall that fails. Clean connecions or make a new one if the ground seems to be the problem. Good luck,
