Ok so here's the story I got a 94 protege with 204k miles a 1.8 sohc with a 5 speed. I bought it from my neighbor to fix because I have a parts car. Basically it ran bad for about a week then died (low rough idle sometimes) it sat for a while they tried replacing wires caps rotor andplugs did nothing so I bought it. I tested spark wasn't getting any so I swapped distributors and I'm 95 percent sure I got it in proper its non gear driven and I'm sure its in range but now the car starts up sounds like its running good till the idle gets below about 1300rpm then it sounds like it chokes out and dies.. I can rev it up no problem sounds better than my parts car did before it wrecked but it will not idle.. so right after I replaced the distributor and it died the first time I heard a loud buzz out of idle air control(when I unplugged it it stopped)so I swapped thewhole throttle body/throttle position sensor/idle air control buzzing gone but still won't idle. Lastly I've tried swapping maf sensor 2 coolant temp sensors(someone suggested them don't know why) pcv valve and still nothing id just like a couple suggestions I was going to try cam and crank sensor next I don't have a tool to check fuel pressure but I figured if it revved so well that probably wasn't the problem. If u have any suggestions let me know ill keep posting further details. Thanks.
