Well my Lumina has been put up for about a year while I was out of state. I came back, changed all my fluids, filters, and drained all the old gas out. After I did all that, baby started right up, no problems. Well I was driving the other day and noticed my car was acting funny. So I looked at all my gauges and noticed my heat gauge wasnt even working. So I was going to try and make it home since I was heading that way when my car started putting and finally died when it came to a stop. So my friend comes out to give me a hand. We let it cool off and was going to try and get it started so we could get it in a parking lot somewhere. Well we let it cool off for about 45mins and tried to start it. When I would turn the key to start it, my starter would make a sound like "chu" and thats it. Almost like it was trying to turn but couldnt. So my friend got a hammer and tapped on the starter and we got it to start turning the engine one time but didnt roll over. After that it could just make that "chu" sound, or it would click once the battery started to die. So I went and purchased a remanufactured starter from autozone. We got it installed, and made sure all the connections were clean. I also purchased a new battery and went and had it recharged before we tried out the new starter. So I go to crank it with the new starter and it does the same thing as the other one was doing. So just to test the starter I took it out of the engine but kept all the wires attached to see if it would even spin. Well I turned the ignition and it seemed like it was spining fine. So pretty much my question is; Is there something else that may be wrong that I should check, or is it possible that I got another bad starter from AutoZone?
