1995 Mazda overheating Sign In

My car had started to overheat and it was discovered that the radiator hose needed to be replaced. The hose has been replaced and the car was fine for about a week. Now, the car is overheating again. I checked the oil, and the color and level was normal however my coolant reservoir was empty. The oil is not milky. I only have smoke coming out of the tailpipe when the car begins to overheat. What appears to be smoke comes out of the tailpipe when I start the car on a cold morning, but that could just be steam. Any idea of what the problem may be? Also, underneath the car is completely dry so I don't think there is a leak. Btw, the car is a 1995 Mazda 626.

I would also like to add that the car sometimes revs while idling. It has only done this twice and only for short periods of time (less than 2 minutes)

If you have white smoke and see water/coolant dripping out of the exhaust when it is overheating, sounds like a head gasket issue. You might of done the head gasket in or warped the head when the lower hose went.
