check engine light came on and there is now a rattling noise coming from what i think is the cat converter. if it is the catalac conv. would the check enginge light come on? the sound only happens when i press on the gas but quits if the rpms start to rise. its also starts to bog out like its gonna die if i try to rev it. could this all be because of the catalac conv? at 70 and hour plus material what am i looking at for cost.

check your heat shields first for being loose
and your other question regarding the cat converter
yah i would think so on a 95 obd1 computer controled car. if you got a bad converter that
it would trigger the engine light on because front and
back 02 sensores see trouble

really it sounds alot like the cat converter has
broken up inside and usually when that happens
it restricts exhaust flow to a point where you do
notice a power decrease what i would do is drop it

and run the car if the power comes back you
got a bad cat .. or possibly a blockage somewhere
in your exhaust.
