We inherited this 96 caprice with it's sel already on and it coded p1441 but looking through the records of this car it had been repaired for this coded problem on three seperate service trips. The dealer put on three purge soleniod over a period of 6 years but only 3000 miles. what could possibly be causing this hesitation. this car could idile all day without trouble but get on the road and accelerate and it almost stops. It's a caprice classic sedan with the 4.3l engine.

What catches my eye with your post is the long time for just 3,000 miles. This suggests a poke around 2 mile at a time type use which can cause problem as the engine never fully warms up, heats up converters and that over time taxes o2 sensors and converters even with remarkably low miles. Some will clear out somewhat with use and some won't. Either way cars like that if that's the case really should go on a good highway run now and then which helps for prevention and may or may not be a cure now, T
