I would like to apologize in advance for this question,it has probably been asked about a zillion times but after 30 minutes of wading through threads I couldn't take it anymore: PROBLEM: 1996 Ford Taurus LX 3.0 duratech 24 valve v6 mileage unknown(rebuild) This problem dates back to the advent of the taurus/sable so someone must know the correct answer by now. My wife had a 94 did the same thing(sorry ex wife). Engine starts races without using accelerator to between 2 & 3000 RPMs. Dies immediately or idles roughly for a minute and then dies. Reset fuel pump(don't know why). Checked mass air flow...clean. a/c blower motor burned out about a week before this started do not think related.Have checked all top side vacuum connections all connected BUT, it seems as if I have no vacuum pressure at all...anywhere.Also loud hissing never noticed before but wasn't listening.Checked intake bolts, all secure. Most people will tell me it is th O2 sensor, or throttle position sensor,if anything I think it's the mass airflow sensor, reason:I've seen over a dozen people with the same problem and O2 or throttle position sensor never work and Mass air flow regulate at least one or both of those. Somebody somewhere knows the answer to this problem, it just isn't me. I'm a single father with a crappy job and 5 & 6 yr old kids and cannot afford to play hit and miss at 60 and 80 bucks a whack. I need solid info. As I said this has been going on since the 80's but there are still a zillion Tauruses on the road. So, there must be an answer. Please help! (P.S. Should butterfly in throttle body be completely closed in idle position? Mine is and I know that this particular model can be adjusted but, the doesn't account for the racing does it Thank you in advance for any info you can give for it is greatly appreciated. This is my sole means of transportation and I'm on the verge of losing my job from absenteeism. Please help!!

There is an Idle Seed Control motor around the throttle body area. If it is failing, it could cause your proble,. You can remove it and clean inside the pintle area and see if it helps. Click here for information. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
