1996 Toyota T100 3400 four cam 24 I am having a problem with my pulley alignment. The AC belt has been removed for a few years, now due to the heat, I attempted to put a new belt but within a few hours the belt split in half. After further examination I noticed the AC condenser pulley was further back than the crank pulley and the tensioner. This probably caused the tear as it was most definitely rubbing on the AC pulleys lipped edge. My question is: is it possible to move the AC pulley forward to line up? It is pretty far by the look of it and there is no adjustment bolts for the condenser so it's position seems to be where it needs to be. In the pictures the ac clutch is removed but that's it Tl;Dr - is it possible to move the AC pulley forward to line up with the crank and tensioner pulleys? (Pictures overlabled to be as clear as possible) https://imgur.com/gkGp8Ja https://imgur.com/t8viM0X

? Could only see pic one and that site went to a cooking show. Pulleys: None of those line up at quick glance. Now not the point really. It's been defeated for years for some reason unknown - different engine or other parts. A/C isn't going to just work for you it's dead from sitting that long by all odds. Just do without A/C like the person who did that. It probably didn't work and gave up on A/C before that too. They don't last that long, T

How did that get like that? Was the compressor replaced while the belt was off or did you buy it with the belt off? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

The engine is not the original of the vehicle, the original blew out twice and was replaced in the end. It's originally from either a 4runner or Tacoma not sure. The belt worked fine when we had it but I'm not sure if the mechanic who replaced the engine could have messed up the pulleys somehow. Another question, since I really would prefer to have a functional ac rather than give up, could the AC pulley be flipped to shift it forward? Not sure if that's possible or not. Could there be spacers for the pulley? I know the clutch has spacers but again I'm not sure if the whole pulley & clutch could be shifted forward a bit.

No, he didn't mess with any pulleys. It's not possible to move the pulley. It has to be either the wrong compressor or it has the wrong clutch on it.

Sorry if missed in this. It's blown up more than once and so hacked to run at all A/C the last thing worried about. Just A/C left (if so) full of ambient air the components and now acidic oil it's totally trashed if you did get a belt to run it. Can you even spin the compressor by it's hub not the pulley know it's both a pulley and a pump in one. If no good almost 25 year old truck buy a cooler with ice and water and cool yourself off it isn't worth cost of A/C from scratch - can't be, Tom
