I resently had a new C. converter put in my 97 dodge truck. Now it runs horrible. 5 miles to the gallon and black smoke from the exhaust. Never ran this bad before. always got at least 13-14 miles to the gallon. What happened?? HELP!!!

This brings about the questions: Why did you get a new converter in the first place? Is that the only thing that was done? And--why aren't you bringing this up with them?

Sooner the better as if you see black smoke the new converter if even not defective will be junk soon if not now. The work needs to be checked now! T

We picked up the truck after garage hours last night. He is not open on Saturdays. That would be why I havent talked to him yet. The converter needed to be replaced. The truck was brought to the garage because we thought that there was something wrong with the altinator. It turned out to be a dead cell in the new battery that we bought a month ago. Seeing as we knew that it needed a new converter we had them put a new one in. Now we have the low gas milage and black smoke, which we did not have before the new converter was put it.
