1998 Buick LaSabre Brake Issue Sign In

A co-worker of mine is having an issue with her 1998 Buick LaSabre. When she brakes, it's started to feel "like driving over a washboard", as she describes it. It has anti-lock brakes. Any ideas what would cause this? Any advice would be appreciated - thanks.

Arggh! As a test you could try pulling the fuse on the ABS in a safe test area and see if it stops doing that. Sounds like the ABS thinks it's skidding,

Great, thanks, Tom. If it is the ABS, any idea of what the repair might cost?

I'd get a code read for this. It's possible to be a simple problem like debris at a wheel speed sensor that could be blown out with air or nasty expensive controls. Default is supposed to be regular braking action so it's acting on input of a real skid.

Does this car do this all the time or was this a fluke? Is amber light staying on? If this thing won't default to regular brakes and gives that buzzing feel and sinking pedal when it's not in trouble with traction for stopping it's DANGEROUS and don't wait to fix that!!
