1998 Cutlass reverse issue

1998 Olds Cutlass 3.3 106K During a cold start, my car will shift into all gears just fine. But in reverse, when i try to go it feels like the brakes are being applied and the car doesnt want to go backwards. Driving forward is 100% fine. I had an issue about 6 months ago where the rear left wheel locked up due to a brake issue. That was completely repaired (hoses, pads, rotors, calipers). So I asked my mechanic to take a look and see if the same problem might be happening again. He checked out the brakes on all 4 tires and said everything was in great shape. He said this current issue may be a result of the cold and moisture causing the brake to "freeze" itself to feel like it was applied and would just need to maybe break loose. I am kind of para phrasing his statement there cause I cant remember exactly what he said I now wonder if this might be a tranny issue. Like i said, the car has no trouble shifting or going forward. And once the car is warmed up there is no problem going in reverse. Thanks for any replies!
