I have a car that the engine just randomly dies, after,lt will turn over, may sputtter but will not start. If let to sit for a half hour or so it will restart and be fine again. I have had a diagnostic meter on it and all I get is a PO 442 emissions leak. I have changed the gas cap but am not sure if the leak is the problem. Anyone else had this problem. I left it with a mechanic for a week and they drove it hoping it would die for them. No luck. Looking for some help. Thanks

The emissions leak has nothing to do with the engine problem. The only way you are going to find out is to determine which function is dropping out at the moment it dies, spark, injector pulse or fuel pressure...... not easy to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
