I have a 1999 pontiac sunfire with 153000 miles with a 2.2 engine. It starts great first thing in the morning. After I drive for a while, or it sits in the sun all day it is very hard to start. It turns over fine, but it takes several seconds to start. I replaced the gas cap thought the seal was worn out. Thank you for advice.

Check engine light on? If so, what code(s) number(s) is stored?

Check the fuel pressure regulator for leaking by pulling vacuum line off and checking for the presence of raw fuel

You may need to check the fuel pump rest pressure to be sure your not bleeding fuel back to the tank. You'll need a fuel pressure gauge to check the pressure bleed off.

There is no check engine light on, and no code shows up on my scan tool. I have not checked the fuel pressure, because it has no test port. Will I have to disconnect the line to do so and t into the line?

Yes, you will need to T in a fuel pressure gauge on the supply line.

I still have not got to test the pressure, but I do smell raw fuel when it finally starts. It only does this when it is hot outside, or the engine is hot and it sets for awhile.
