This may be a stupid question but I'm stuck. The rear drum brakes in my wifes 2000 chevy cavalier are worn out and have locked. It sits in a parking lot about a mile from home. How can I unlock the rear wheels just long enough to drive it home???

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hmmm do you know if they are rusted locked up, or simply locked up after she stopped driving the car to some place?

if you plan on towing the car, you might be able to remove the brake line, this releasing the pressure to the brakes, but then again if they rusted you may need to tap the drums using a rubber hammer, or softly with a metal hammer ( using a metal hammer may lead to more damage, if you get frustrated and start to beat the Sh!t of of it lol)

just trying to get more information for the guys here....

climb under the car and loosen the star adjuster wheel to pull the pads away from the drum. if that doesnt work, then something must have came loose and binded up. if thats the case then pop the wheel off and see if you can get the drum off.
