2000 Chevy Impala intermittent stalling Sign In

I have a 2000 Chevy Impala that has intermittent stalling issues. About 5 or 6 times in a month. I have done the following. Changed fuel filter, had a reputable mechanic hook it to diagnostics, cleaned fuel injectors, at least 2 tanks of fresh gas.
There is no check engine light & the diagnostics showed that everything was operating as it should be, including the fuel pump.
Sometimes it stalls at idle, slight acceleration or stumbles going about 20 mph.
All the mechanic said was drive it until it wont start, then we can find the problem.
Any help please. Its like a ghost that appears then goes away.
Also has 157,000 miles

When does it stall? Does it stall when the engine is cold or at operating temperature? Does it stall cruising, idle, under acceleration, or all the above? How often does it stall out? Does it restart after the stall?

Mechanic is right that intermittent stalling problems are very hard to figure out. You have to have the right equipment, be at the right place at the right time monitoring things, and have luck on your side.

It happens usually on the way to work on a cold start. Its been a month & stalls 6 times or so. Twice at stop light & 3 times while accelerating from a stop.

I have gone a week without an issue then it showed again. Am I right to just drive it until it wont start then take it in to have whatever fixed?. I dont want to spend money i dont have on unnessary parts.

In your experience willit justfinalky give out?

It may probably get worse, but that is a definite guess. The major problem is trying to catch the glitch when it shows up. Once you find out what goes away when the stalling occurs, you know where to look.

Something that you could do is to inspect wiring harnesses. Move them around and see if you can duplicate the stalling.

Does anything go out along with the stalling, such as the gauges, blower fan, or etc. Does anything happen before the stall like a buck or surge? Take note of things such as those. That kind of information may be helpful to the technician.

No. Everything continues to run. Fan, radio, running lights. Nothing on the dash. Just stops.
Sooooo frustrating. Of course it can never be duplicated. I have had 2 different mechanics look at it.
Same advise given. Drive it until it gets much. I just hope i dont cause more damage by doing that.
