my 2000 ford explorer driver door handle has come loose /sloppy due to a failed return spring in the mechanism. How do I fix? I have removed inside door panels & can vaguely see that something is not right. Currently door will not unlock with code buttons but will unlock after much persistence with the key. HELP

sounds like you have two seperate door problems. the exterior door handle being loose on the exterior is only fixed by replacing the door handle and getting it painted. youll have to remove the door panel, (i find it easier to take both driver and passenger door panels off so you have a reference point in the other door) disconnect the linkage inside the door. from the exterior of the door drill out the two rivets holding the handle to the door. (youll see the rivets if you look up under the door handle) as far as the power locks not working, look down inside the door at the door latch. there is a small spring on the latch that pulles up on the door actuator. guarenteed that spring is broken and laying on the bottom of your door. both the spring and exterior door handle are available at your local ford dealer ive seen the door handle available aftermarket however __________________________________________________ 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 Ford Ranger 2004 Toyota Corolla 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
