2000 Mercury Grand Marquis front shocks Sign In

Hi,
I think my question is an easy one for you experts. all I need to know is this: My Marquis, according to Firestone, has a right front shock leaking oil. My question is how urgent is it that i get this fixed? My financial situation is somewhat tight now. What happens if I wait to fix this? Is it a safety issue? Does it damage other parts of my car? I just need some unbiased answers so I know how soon I need to bite the bullet on this one.
Thanks so much!

It's not a mission critical issue, but it needs to be fixed when you get the chance. Worn out shocks can cause handling issues and tire cupping. What is the shop saying?

It will also deteriorate and weaken the coil spring if you continue driving on it.

To be honest, it's been a few months already (since the shop said I need the work).Unsure I'm just going to have to buckle down and get this done as I don't want to cause more problems! Thanks so much for your answers!

Hi Again!
I had my shocks repaired today and it seemed to be done pretty quickly....how long does it generally take to remove and replace shocks? My Mom seems to think it didn't take as long as she thought it would (or should). Just curious! Thanks!

How long has your Mom been a mechanic?

An experienced mechanic can change shocks in about 15 minutes each.
