2000 cadillac deville heater

I have a 2000 cadillac deville and the heater blows hot only when i hit the gas. If im stopped at a light or something it starts to blow cold. Sometimes if i rev it up it goes back hot. Coolant seems to be fine sometimes it smells under the hood. I have replaced the water pump and thermostat but still have the same problem. Any advice would be gladly appreciated. Thanks

I would try flushing and back flushing the heater core, might be partially plugged.
Take the 2 hoses off pour some CLR and let it sit in the heater core for a while then back flush and flush thoroughly.
