My dodge 5.9 engine would start but it would not stay started without reving the engine to 1500rpm and up. When I let off the accelerator the engine would die. I took the air cleaner off and sprayed carb cleaner and it did not improve. I then disconnected the battery for several minutes, reconnect and the problem was fixed. My question is what happened? Is this just the beginning of a sympton of a problem that I should be aware of? If a repair looms in the near future I would like to address it now and not when I'm on the road. Any help would be appreciated Thanks.

This is no doubt a wait and see thing now that it's fixed. You should take a look at wiring and the connections if corroded or rubbing on something but I wouldn't go nuts yet. This could be a fluke and never come back. Perhaps somebody here knows of this as common but I don't. It's happened to me in one of my own vehicles and been a couple years with nothing to find???? If this happens again try to get a code out of the computer before resetting and that would surely be a help. It stinks but replacing all kinds of stuff right now for prevention may not even help. Let us know if you do find the problem, T
