This car isn't offered with the diesel engine here in the US where the site is based, so none of us are going to have access to tech info nor have we ever worked on one. With that said my help will be quite limited.

By glowlight I'm guessing you mean the light showing your glow plugs are on. I'm not sure if this still uses an IDI diesel with conventional glow plugs or a DI with a manifold preheater screen. It is normal in order to get combustion temps up for the glow plugs to remain on for up to a few minutes after initial cold start but the light would be off. There should be a fairly large relay or even a magnetic switch resembling the starter solenoid supplying power to them, and I would be interested in knowing if it is being commanded on when this is happening.

Is the mechanic you took it to an actual licensed shop with professional level scan tools or a backyard bob type of operation? There are generic scan tools that only read codes and are cheap, then there are professional level scan tools that can perform component testing and view live data along with accessing multiple modules. Thats what you need to find this issue. A sudden power de-rate is a result of the PCM logging a code or witnessing parameters that it thinks will harm the drivetrain and then limiting its power to save itself. Very common in the computer controlled diesels.

Just a shot in the dark, but is this a clean diesel with a DEF tank? It seems a little old for that, but like I said I have no clue what they built overseas and may have put that into production earlier than the US did. If it has a DEF tank, you need to fill it completely to the top if it was getting low before this happened. Had a new truck with the diesel that went into low power mode when the DEF got low. Customer put a jug in after that but it wouldn't reset until the tank was completely full.
