Try another place to see if it does the same with another scanner. Don't wait too long to get to the diagnosis or at least reading for this and running properly again as it's hard to fatal for converter if gaging on raw fuel too much. Go easy tossing parts but a tune up of parts if old enough really isn't a waste except new plugs might get wrecked if running poorly too long. IDK, if this refuses to communicate that alone is going to be problem, T

Basically, that means # 3 injector has an electrical circuit issue. This could be a wiring, connector, terminal, injector coil, or engine computer driver problem. If a visual inspection of the wiring and connections for injector #3 circuit doesn't reveal anything, someone is going to have to hook up a graphing meter or scope and see what the voltage and amperage on that circuit is to determine what is at fault. An injector circuit issue will definitely cause misfires. Pay really good attention to the injector wiring harness on those 3.0L. Seen many get chaffed or damaged. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
